Murthy served as CEO of Infosys from 1981 to 2002 and then as chairman of the board from 2002 to 2011.

Under Murthy's leadership, Infosys pioneered the Global Delivery Model, which allowed the company to provide cost-effective IT services to clients worldwide. The company also became known for its focus on quality and innovation, and for its strong corporate culture.
